TOGETHER THROUGH TRAUMA

CFAR is leveraging decades of mental health expertise to offer systemic trauma services to help reduce trauma among those impacted by gun violence in Philadelphia through our Together Through Trauma (TTT) program. TTT was launched in late 2021 with funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD.)  Under TTT, therapists provide trauma services using evidenced based practices such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) for children and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for adults. In addition, TTT staff delivers community workshops to help educate and support those who have experienced trauma due to violence in the community, as well as staff trainings geared towards community partners around the impact of trauma and how to engage families in a trauma-informed way.

In early 2023, CFAR received an additional PCCD grant in the amount of $999,000 over 29 months to expand TTT programming in partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation. You can follow the updates about this program expansion here , and through the CFAR social media.

With this expansion, the TTT program will:

  • Offer therapy services at 6 identified Philly Rec Centers, as well as on a virtual platform (like Zoom) to accommodate the needs of the community.
  • Provide community workshops at the 6 identified Philly Rec Centers, as well as at some identified community partner locations.
  • Provide staff trainings for Parks and Rec staff, as well as for some identified community partners.
  • Provide emotional education workshops at 12 identified Parks and Rec Summer Camps over at least two summers
