CFAR February 2024 Newsletter

The CFAR staff had an absolute blast at our staff party at North Bowl in Philadelphia on February 3rd! It was a post-holiday party so that we could accommodate more schedules, and we had a great turnout. The night was filled with games, bowling, delicious food and drinks, and fun photo props. This was a great opportunity for our incredibly busy and hard-working staff to have some fun together.

We are continuing to grow at an incredible rate! To make sure we are better set up for all of this growth, we have hired an amazing new COO, Sean Clark. We are also in the process of expanding our office space at 7901 Bustleton to accommodate new staff and more clients, seeking a CFO to guide us with our larger and more complex budget, seeking an HR Manager to support our growing staffing needs, and securing our business planning consultants. What a start to 2024!

We are so excited to celebrate 30 years of building strength and resiliency in families with a breakfast on Thursday, May 16th from 8:30-10:30 at the beautiful Arts Ballroom in Philadelphia. This is a wonderful opportunity to support CFAR while connecting with our incredible community. Honorees will be announced shortly, and the program will reflect on just how far the organization has come. You won’t want to miss it!

The Together Through Trauma program is pleased to welcome Trauma Therapist Shayna Rudd and Outreach Specialist Samantha Hill to the program this month! They will be teamed up to work at Mander, 8th & Diamond, and CB Moore Rec Centers. Both have a long and passionate history of working with Philadelphia communities, and they have already infused the program with their enthusiasm and creativity. We know that they will make a huge impact on the communities they will serve in TTT.

Children Deserving Services serves undocumented, uninsurable children. But what does that mean? An undocumented person is a foreign national who: entered the United States without inspection or without legal status, entered with legal status but then remained in the United States without authorization, or is otherwise currently in the process of adjusting their immigration status. It should also be noted that most undocumented individuals have lived in the United States most of their lives, have attended elementary, middle, and high school in the US, and/or currently lack a way to become legal residents or citizens of the US. These factors mean limited access to much-needed services, which is why we are so proud to be able to provide mental health support to the children of these communities.
