Not only does CFAR have a growing client base and growing grant-funded programs, we have been working on collaborations with partners to allow us to make our mental health services even more accessible. CFAR has about 75 therapists on our team at any given time, including some who are here through our robust internship program. In light of the recent tragic shootings in Philadelphia that have greatly impacted the youth in the city, Together Through Trauma therapists have been out in the community offering services and support. Our Trauma Therapists and Outreach Specialists have connected with various partners and schools, and have attended some of the recent events held in response to these shootings. Children Deserving Services (CDS) offers free evidence-based counseling services to uninsured youth and families who are generally from immigrant communities. Language barriers and fear of legal action make these communities particularly vulnerable and less likely to seek much-needed services. The program currently operates with just one Program Director and two part-time clinicians, and all three are bilingual with varying immigrant backgrounds. The CDS team utilized their backgrounds and community outreach through safe channels to allow them to establish a reputation as a trusted partner. Thanks these efforts, the program has a steady stream of referrals and a growing waitlist. CDS is hoping to secure additional funding to grow the team and strengthen even more families through innovative and culturally competent mental health services in the coming months.
